health problems two years after visiting a third world country?

Ok well i went on vacation to a country called El Salvador. During my stay there the windows were open in the villa i was staying and there were slums across the street. I had insomnia and I developed a chronic upper respiratory infection and i was given some kind of antibiotic. Now its a few years later and i seem to be experiencing strange symptoms possibly unrelated like chronic tension type headaches that grow worse on waking up early i feel like im being ripped from sleep and my head is hurting with a throbbing ache. I seem to have xerostemia or dry mouth alot of the time. My saliva is often sticky. On my tongue in my mouth there is tiny white nodules that have grown in thickly like a paste but the doctor says its not oral thrush. I constantly have dry eyes and I have to rub them to move moisture into them. My muscles seem to be sore most of the time even if i dont exert myself. I got a blood test done and my monocytes are extremely high and lymphocytes are low. Please help

serves YOU right..what did you expect.
Um, I'd see a DR on this one. No one can diagnose you over the Internet.
I'm not a doctor. It would seem the most sensible course of action for you would be to see a tropical disease specialist. There certainly are infectious agents in most of the tropics, some will make you slightly ill, others can be life threatening. On a more optimistic tone, since this has taken the better part of two years to develop it may not be all that serious. But get it checked out.
Ask your doctor for a referral to a collegue who might be more knowlegable about tropical diseases.El Salvador (and most of Central America) is NOT a third world place. A not very wealthy second world place, sure, but NOT a third world place. If you don't wanna ask your doctor for a referral, contact your county public health department -- they are aware of health problems throughout the world, and have direct ties with the CDC. Were you in San Salvador or out in the countryside? Lots of questions like that. We were in Costa Rica and Guatemala about the same time, but I know they are "richer" second or even first world countries -- just neighbors.Good luck.
You need to see a hematologist%26#92;oncologist asap.
