Tranilast is antiallergic drug.
Answers:
although oral tranilast has been reported effective in numerous potential indications, study data are either too limited or not convincing enough to recommend the drug over existing therapies. tranilast has absolutely no fda approved indication and although it does exhibit antiallergenic properties, its off-label usage does not even include allergies. it is virtually off the market, being kept on the fda's orphan drug list for absolutely last-ditch-efforts for rare indications.
I've searched several sites for info on it and haven't found anything. It's also not in any of my med books. All of the articles I saw related to problems with the heart, kidneys, or diabetes. Nothing related to allergies. Try talking to your doctor or pharmacist about therapeutic doses for it.
